Warm and humid weather continues to dominates your Thursday and Friday before a cold front ushers in a rainy weekend across the Western Carolinas. Sunday marks a First Alert Weather Day as rain threatens Easter plans across the region.
Good morning! A weak wave of energy arrives from our west today and when paired with the onshore flow in place, we’ve got enough moisture to work with to have a few rain showers. Throughout the day, we’re partly to mostly cloudy.
A KOMU 8 First Alert Weather Day is issued when the weather team expects conditions that could pose a threat to life or property.
Clouds hang tight when it is not actively raining on Easter, so we expect highs only climb into the 70s. A drop in humidity will help usher in some cooler conditions, but it’s not a cold blast: highs are more seasonably in the 70s with less muggy air for much of next workweek.
The weekend will be a bit calmer from a storm perspective, but it will be quite breezy. We could see wind gusts near 40 mph Saturday, and near 25 to 30 mph Sunday. Temperatures will be seasonable in the lower to mid-50s both days.
First Alert Weather Day Easter Sunday as showers and storms interrupt outdoor plans. Warm conditions and rain chances continue daily until then.
Freezing rain and rain showers will taper off Thursday evening. A First Alert for slippery and icy patches on the roads, especially ones which are untreated into Thursday night. Otherwise mostly cloudy Thursday night into Friday morning. Temperatures will be steady in the upper 20s to low 30s overnight into early Friday.
