Two of my favorite quilting threads is isacord for 40 weight poly and invisafil by @wonderfilspecialtythread for 100 weight use. Both however are short 3” high spools. These can get snarled on the spindle. Even if you use a sit down machine with side spindle , they can get wrapped and this causes a break. Doubling them gets the used thread higher and prevents this. If the thread is REaLLy slippery, place a round paper desert plate with a hole in it (maybe trimmed a bit too) between the spools. T
